extreme hanging
i wish there was a place that was open 24 hours, that had couches and chairs, board games, video games, a bathroom, and was free to the general public. is that too much to ask for? haha.
now, i know what you’re thinking. that sounds like somebody’s house! but, here’s the deal. it’s one thing for me to show up uninvited at a friend’s house (some friends like it. others don’t). the thing about my ideal fantasy hang out place is that i could not only show up uninvited at any given moment, but i could bring a posse of people.
the closest thing i can think of is a coffee shop, but most aren’t open all night. in addition to that, most coffee shops don’t look highly on someone buying a $2 cup of coffee and hanging out all day. and perkins/denny’s is expensive and not very comfortable, in regards to furniture and such.
anyway, after much thinking, i think i’ve stumbled on a couple solutions.
- the entire place is sponsored by mountain dew or red bull! they get hundreds of impressions (or whatever marketing people call eyeballs) and direct marketing to a niche group of late night socialites and gamers. you could call it “dew’s place” or “the red bull lounge”. eh?
- memberships! i’m not sure about you, but i would pay $10-20/month for the privilege of having a place to hang, any time i want. it could even be like a credit union, where you have to know people to get in! i guess you could sell snacks and soda, too. maybe the mountain dew and red bull people could help subsidize that cost? haha
surely, i’m not the only person on this planet that’s thought of this, right? what are your thoughts??
